Falling in love is easy and perhaps the most wonderful feeling in the world. However, staying in love can be quite challenging at times, especially if you have been together for a quite some time.  

Staying in love with your partner takes effort and willingness.  You need to dedicate your love to each other for a lifetime to make it even more special. 

You may be reading this because you are wondering how to keep that magic in your relationship.  My answer to that is quite simple.  SET UP RELATIONSHIP GOALS.

Setting up relationship goals don’t have to be difficult and complicated.  Below are 14 realistic relationship goals for you and your partner that will help build a happier and stronger relationship.

1. Have a daily conversation with your partner.

No matter how busy you are, make sure to take some time to have a conversation with your partner.

 It is very essential in a relationship.  Having frequent conversations mean you are communicating with your partner regularly and can really delve deep into each other’s feelings.

Conversation and communication with your partner is an important relationship goal that should be on your top lists.

2. Support each other’s passions and goals.

Support each other’s feelings, desires, passions, and goals in life.  Each of us has different life goals we want to excel at.   Sometimes the best support you can offer can come in the form of listening to each other.

Be your partner’s number one cheer leader and supporter.  This can mean a lot to them and move them one step closer to achieving their dreams.

3. Resolve issues calmly and in a mature manner.

Remember that maturity is required if you want to achieve your relationship goals.  In order for a relationship to thrive, both of you need to know how to resolve your issues calmly and maturely so that it will grow your relationship stronger.

4. Become each other’s best friend.

Being their best friend is an essential element that promotes happier relationship goals.  

When you are best friends, you feel comfortable with that person, laugh each other’s jokes, and cherish every moment together just like you would with any other person you would consider a close friend.

5. Support each other in the tough times.

Falling in love is the easy part, but staying in love and supporting each other in the darkest times and having each other’s back is a challenge in its own.  

Being in a mature relationship and keeping it is never easy.  To keep this relationship goal, remember to always be on each other’s side no matter what happened.

6. Enrich your relationship.

Bring yourselves closer together and enrich your relationship by sharing each other’s future plans. Maybe one of you wants to pursue to work on a master’s degree or have kids in the future.  

Whatever your plans for the future are, it is very essential that your share this with each other and know that you both are traveling on the same road.  

7. Trust each other.

Trust is very important in any relationship. If there are trust issues in your relationship, make sure to address these issues with your partner.  

A relationship goal is not realistic if you have a trust issue, so make sure you are ready and able to fix this together.

You may love your partner, but giving full respect to your partner is essential to the survival of your relationship.  This goes hand in hand with trusting each other.  

You can’t have their trust if you haven’t earned their respect.  For example, be respectful of your partner’s personal space if he or she needs it.

Besides having trust and respect, it is also essential in your relationship goals to love each other unconditionally.  

When you truly love someone, you do it without expecting to receive a material gift in return, except to be loved back the same way.

10. Maintain a spark in the relationship.

If you have been together quite a while, ensure that you both take some time to reignite the spark and keep the love alive in your relationship.

Sometimes, when both of you get too busy with your careers and raising a family, reaching this goal can be difficult to achieve.  However, take some extra time to each other and make plans to rekindle the love again.

Be open to give and receive more romance to each other.  Remember the times that you just started dating or started living together as a happy couple.  Being intimate and having sex with your partner can become boring if you let it be.  

I suggest, make it a relationship goal to continue to spice your relationship and please each other.  You don’t have to spend any money.  Simply research online new ways to spice up your love life.

12. Focus on the positive aspect of your relationship.

Do not let the obstacles in the relationship ruin your relationship goals.  Yes, having struggles is normal, it is inevitable.  There is no such thing as a perfect relationship.  

However, keeping and focusing on the positive aspect will keep you moving onto your relationship goals.  See the positive and beauty of the relationship. 

13. Practice positive relationship affirmations.

Affirmations are positive repeated statements that trigger our subconscious mind to put these statements into actions.  By practicing positive affirmations, you are nurturing the love in your relationship.


14. Plan a holiday getaway together.

Life can be very busy for the both of you.  So talk to each other and plan ahead of time to go somewhere that you will both enjoy.  

It doesn’t have to be expensive, just go somewhere that both of you can talk amongst yourselves.  Get up early and head to the park when the weathers nice.
