7 Specific Steps To Setting Goals and Accomplishing Them. – Guest Post By Neyvi
We all have goals. Financial, physical, mental, career, etc. but most of the time, we find ourselves on a repetitive state.
You start this specific goal, but then something happens, and 1 month later, you are back at step one. Why is that?
See I found myself trying to accomplish one specific goal for over a year until I decided to try something new!
I don’t want you to waste any more time. I want you to jump ahead and accomplish everything you set out to do and here is how you start.
When setting out to accomplish any type of goals, I have found it best to make them SMART goals.
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Based.
Below, I explain how this method works best for you and can actually help you accomplish your goals.
Figure Out What Your Goals Are
It’s time to get specific with it.
If I were standing directly in front of you and asked you what your goals are, would you be able to give me a good specific answer or would it sound generic like, ‘lose weight’ or ‘get rich’ or ‘get out of debt’?
Most of us only go as far as these generic goals because no one taught us otherwise.
If you are not specific as to exactly how much weight you want to lose or by when exactly you want to get out of debt, or how you plan on getting rich, you will always find yourself back at step one.
Using the losing weight scenario, let me explain what tends to happen with a non-specific goal. Even if you lose some weight, you won’t find yourself accomplishing a goal because you never really said how much you want to lose!
You could be working on this same goal for years because you never gave yourself a deadline and you’ll go back to where your started because your why wasn’t big or strong or specific enough.
If you are serious about your goals and want to keep that promise to yourself, get as specific as you possibly can. Write down exactly what you want to do and how you are going to do it.
This step is probably the most important to accomplishing your goals.
Life will always throw roadblocks at you and you will always feel ‘too busy’. You have to schedule your goals into your life so that it can happen. You just can’t expect to fit your goals in when it’s ‘convenient’ and think it will all work out.
Just knowing what your goals are isn’t going to cut it either.
To accomplish your goals, you have to prioritize it, make time for it and fit it in your schedule.
This isn’t just for accomplishing goals, scheduling is an important factor in anything you set out to do!
Create Your Roadmap
Because I believe in you and what you can do, I want you to actually finish what you set out to do. That is your ultimate goal right!?
Well now, it is time to create your map. This goal roadmap is your fail-safe plan. It allows you to see exactly what steps you need to take so you never feel stuck, you know how close you are to finishing and you know what it’s going to take to get to the end.
When creating your map, think about your deadlines. Each deadline is like a mile marker to your destination.
Believe it’s Already True
To accomplish your goal, no matter how big or small, you have got to know it is real. It has to be so real; you feel as if you are already at the finish line.
A big part to why we don’t accomplish our goals is because it seems almost impossible or don’t believe in ourselves to be able to actually do it.
Here’s the truth; you can do anything you set out to do. It will take work, time and effort but it is possible!
Believe in yourself and believe in your goal.
If you have $20 to your name today, you aren’t going to have $1,000,000 tomorrow. (unless you’ve got some good investments, and if so, let me know!)
You have to know your truth and not that that crappy truth you want others to believe of you. Honesty about where you currently are is key.
Accomplishing your goals is a battle between you and you only. You’ll get absolutely nowhere with a false start and unrealistic finish.
Be true on where you are and how long it will take you to get there. Don’t overwhelm yourself with crazy deadlines that are merely impossible to keep up with because that only results in you giving up.
Stop looking for quick results and fixes. Instead look for permanent, achievable results.
It’s not about how long it takes you; it’s about actually finishing and accomplishing!
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
I don’t know about you, but there is no way I am able to do one thing, where there’s a million other things calling my name. I can’t focus on my work if I can see papers scattered all over the desk, piles of laundry needing to be done or have any clue what day it is!
It is time to get things in order my friend and make space for things that matter.
Organizing your surroundings means getting clear in your mind and making space for more creative activities.
As simple as this step may be, it is probably the hardest!
It’s never going to be the right time.
You will never find the extra time and the more you set it off for another day, the farther away you are.
You have your specific goals, with realistic deadlines, your roadmap with the steps needed to take and with your surroundings under control, you now have clear space to get it done.
Start today, start right now!
