9 Helpful Strategies to Become the Best Version of Yourself

1. Practice Positive Thinking

No matter how bad the situation is, keep positive. Life is difficult and we all struggle. However, these obstacles will make us stronger and shape us into a better version of ourselves.

It’s OK to be emotional when life seems too hard.  That’s perfectly normal, but don’t get trapped by your emotions.  Instead, devise a plan for getting out of that trap.

“Take life day by day and be grateful for the little things. Don’t get caught up in what you can’t control. Focus on the positive.” – thepersonalquotes

2. Accept Failures

We all make mistakes; however, we need to learn to accept those mistakes for what they are and learn from those failures. Do not live your life by reflecting everyday on those failures and mistakes you made.  You can’t turn back the clock. Accept them for what they are and move on with your life.

There are many successful people who failed thousands of times, but they never give up.  Instead they kept learning from those failures. If you have never failed, you have never tried anything new.

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something but I can’t accept not trying.” – Michael Jordan

3. Learn to Forgive

Learn to forgive yourself and other people. Holding a grudge against yourself or with other people is a life draining energy. When you learn to forgive, you heal and you learn to move on.

“When a deep injury is done to us, we never heal until we forgive” – Nelson Mandela

4. Aim for Success

Success is the greatest achievement you can make in your life.  It is something you can be really proud of and find happiness when you make it.

Do not fear the obstacles that you will encounter while you are on your way to achieving your goals that will lead to your success. Instead, learn how to face all those fears.

Believe in yourself that you can do great things.  Remember, you become what you think. You have to decide, make a choice, start moving, and take action. No matter how slow it can be, it’s okay, it will be worth the journey.

5. Mind Yourself and Not Others

Learn to avoid criticizing and judging others.  Instead, learn to focus on yourself by achieving your goals. We are quick to judge others without even realizing that we are causing damage to ourselves. To become the best version of yourself, you need to learn to stop creating all that negative energy, and focus on minding your own business.

“Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?” – Marcus Aurelius

6. Please Yourself

Are you the kind of person who is always trying hard to please others? If that is the case, then you will never the best version of yourself by trying hard to please other people. You have to make a choice to stop playing this role. Putting yourself first is not being selfish, it’s self-love.

You have to learn to say “No.”  Learning to say “No” does not mean you are being negative and selfish.  It means that you know that it’s alright to say it even if the other party may not like it.  You know what matters to you and when to put yourself first.

Trying to please everyone is a recipe for stress, depression, and frustration. So be yourself and please yourself and it will build up your confidence. Please yourself and stop trying hard to please others.

7. Focus on Your Worth

It is important you know your worth and value.  When you do, you can really focus on it. And when you know your value, it will guide you your thoughts, decisions, and actions. When you realize your self-worth and take action, it will open many new doors of opportunity in your life.

“For what is worth, it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not. I hope you have the strength to start over.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

8. Avoid Expecting Too Much

Sometimes we expect too much from others, and thus it causes disappointments and frustrations. Learn to accept things for what they are rather than expecting too much, and you’ll find yourself happier in your journey of becoming the best version of yourself. Learn to expect nothing and appreciate everything.

“Expectation Is the root of all heartache.” – William Shakespeare

9. Never Stop Learning

Always improve yourself in many ways. Whatever you decide to be and whatever you want to make in life, find ways on how you can improve yourself. Learning is a never-ending process, and the more we learn, the more we become confident in ourselves. The more we improve ourselves, the more we become comfortable in what we do.

“Once you stop learning, you start dying.” – Albert Einstein
