BOOK REVIEW: The Millionaire Mind By Thomas J. Stanley

The Millionaire Mind By Thomas J. Stanley

Another great read by the author of Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D., the author of The Millionaire Next Door.  I highly recommend this book to the person who wants to get into the millionaire mind set.

This is not a book that will tell you how to get rich quick.  I like the honest approach the author took to write this book.  I loved the amount of research he put into writing and the quality of his research.

This book is not for the faint of heart. This book lays out the foundation for building financial success.  Hard work, discipline, social skills, and what I consider to be the most important ……. a supportive spouse.

I was surprised to learn how low on the list millionaires rank luck and gambling when it comes to them achieving their success, and how honesty ranked in one of the top reasons for their success.

Also, these millionaires place importance on being physically healthy as well as mentally healthy when developing a millionaire mindset.

Something I found helpful from this book is that it’s alright to get help from others while on your path to financial success.

I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for the help from my family.  They have been and always will be a strong part of my foundation for my success.

The one chapter that stood out the most to me was the discussion of vocation.

If you choose to go into to business for yourself, it will be risky and take a lot of hard work.  This is where choosing the right vocation is comes into play.

Starting my own blog has been a vision of mind and it will take hard work and discipline to make it work.   Also, the reason I chose the other vocation as nurse was because I love taking care of people.

Lastly, when you decide what vocation you would like to pursue, you need to consider the location and competition.

The Millionaire Mind stresses the importance of choosing the right spouse when/if you marry.

Choosing the right spouse is so important when it comes to economic productivity.  It’s important that the married couple works together as a team.

How will your spouse react if the business you started goes under and you both are forced to tap into your savings?

How will the other spouse react?  Will you both be able to work together to rebuild? What sacrifices will both be able to make?

Like I said earlier in the review, this book is not for the faint of heart.  These are just some of the questions you need to ask yourself should you decide to go into business for yourself.

I have always believed that it’s not the time of the day you feel productive, but how productive you are with that time.

This book reiterated this though of mine.

Quality over quantity is what matters most.

I can put in a twelve-hour day cranking out article after article on my blogs, but if they are of low quality my blog will ultimately suffer in the end.

I could go on and on with my review, but you really have to read it for yourself. There is wealth of knowledge in this book and well worth the read.
