Looking for more ways on how to plan your perfect day? In this post we will give you tips on how to plan your perfect day with ease!
If you are a student, have a job from 9 am to 6 pm, are a full-time mother or creative entrepreneur, you must have already felt your day running through your hands and reaching the end of it with the feeling of not having done anything really important. I know how it is.
If you want to make the best of your day and are looking for practical tips to avoid going through this, you are in the right place. I’m going to tell you here how you can, today, start implementing changes to be able to plan, focus and achieve results.
But before I start I have two things to say to you:
First, it is good to always keep in mind that unforeseen events happen all the time and things may not always go as you planned. Sometimes due to external influences that are beyond your control, sometimes it is your own body that requires you to go in another direction. (We will be talking about this soon.)
That said, I need to tell you that more and more people have been listening to successful people saying that they use notes as tools to assist in the execution and achievement of goals. And so they continue to be successful.
There are several studies that prove that taking notes (lists of tasks, objectives, plans, ideas …) helps people to conquer life challenges.
Tim Ferris says that “if it’s not on the calendar, it’s not real.”
In your work and in your personal life. With others and with yourself!
The second thing I wanted to say is, exactly, that everything you read here is not just for your professional life. We are not here dealing only with work and productivity, but with a balanced and happy life.
With that in mind, now let’s go to the guide to have a perfect day in 7 steps:
Perfect Day Step 1 – Practice visualization
Yes, we start with a basic exercise in imagination. You NEED to know where you want to go with all this. Visualization allows you to feel as if you have already done it. This is powerful! If you can imagine the end, you can envision a path. This is the basis for creating a plan aligned with your real desires and aspirations.
And don’t tell me you just follow orders and your whole day is filled with obligations that you didn’t even want to have. Try to stop outsourcing the blame. It is up to YOU to change that. And to change I don’t mean to throw everything up and run. How about taking 30 minutes out of your day to fully focus and do something for you? 😉
Perfect Day Step 2 – Prioritize
Once you have managed to define what you want to do with your day to achieve the result you have seen, you are now able to identify your priorities. You will know if you should take the dog for a walk or enroll in the course that will boost your career.
Focus is what matters most here.
And that you are responsible for managing your time and only you are able to identify what is your priority at that moment.
And remembering that sometimes your relationships are your priority and everything is fine. That day your main task is to find a childhood friend to chat with. This is wonderful and essential for our mental health. Remember that I said that we are not only talking about work and productivity, but about a balanced and happy life.
This is why the daily planner that I have made available has a special part for personal care. You, your body, your feelings and emotions are just as important as your job.
Perfect Day Step 3 – Write down your focus of the day
Again, writing down helps to make it real. So, write down your intention for that day that will start and work to have this result, nothing more.
Perfect Day Step 4 – Time to divide up the tasks
Let’s be realistic and remember that the day is 24h. In an ideal situation, you sleep for 7 of those 24 hours, then you have 17 hours to make your to-do list real.
So, be realistic when setting your deadlines and write down the tasks you will be able to do that day. I like to set 3 priorities for the day and then fit the rest in the time left over.
Yes, it is important to separate in blocks of time. Define how many hours or minutes you will dedicate to each task. From 6:30 am to 9 am I am actively pinning and online for my blog, from 11 am to 12 pm I will prepare lunch, and from 6 pm to 7:30 pm I start a bedtime routine for my baby. What can I do from the time I wake up until 7:30 am and from 7:30 pm until bedtime?
Another tip that can help is to group similar tasks. This will help you stay focused and make you more efficient.
You can even set specific days for specific tasks. Does reading emails on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays cause you any problems? So optimize your time and do it these days, freeing up space for other tasks at the same times on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Perfect Day Step 5 – Analyze your progress
In the middle of the day I suggest you stop for a while to see if everything is on track, adjusting if necessary.
I do not advise you to use your lunch hour. I am a fan of mindfulness and abhor the habit of doing other things while eating (watching television, staying on instagram, answering email …). Meals are sacred moments of sharing, when you are in the company of other people, and taking care of your own body, then dedicate yourself to it with love.
Perfect Day Step 6 – Monitor the result
At the end of the day, reflect on whether you have been successful in your endeavor, if anything has been left behind and why. See if there are more items left to do than done and what may have generated this situation. Reflect on how you can improve the next day.
Make a log, a diary where you can write down how your day went and how you felt about it.
Review your week to get a better idea of the big picture and start the next one with more focus.
Perfect Day Step 7 – Think about the next day
Enjoy this moment when you are thinking about the day that is ending and already plan your next day. Just go back to tip 1 and do it all over again.
I really like to think about my day, even the night before. So, when I wake up, I already know everything I need to do and I have a clear mind to start my first task.
Feel what brings you more tranquility. You may find it more productive to make this list after your breakfast. It is neither right nor wrong. It is what best suits you.
But take the tasks that were left undone and see if they fit in that next day or if they will be moved further on.
Consciousness is the word. All of this is to help you realize that the path is already there. With calm, patience and focus, you walk in the right direction and create a day perfectly aligned with your essence.
